What is Icynene?
Icynene insulations minimize both airflow and airborne moisture problems (such as mold or mildew) to help maintain a warm and dry home. By sealing the building shell like no conventional insulation can, Icynene products deliver improved indoor air quality, enhanced airborne moisture management, and maximum energy conservation.

Icynene’s light density spray foam insulation products include ICYNENE LD-C-50™ - the classic formula; and ICYNENE LD-R-50™ which has the added benefit of containing renewable content.

For areas that require insulation with a lower vapor permeance, Icynene’s medium density products are available.

All Icynene products can be used in new home construction or for renovations - in walls, ceilings, attics, crawlspaces, over garages and in many other places.

What does the installation process look like?
Icynene is sprayed as a liquid, and then expands into foam to completely insulate and seal the space where it's applied. Where required, extra Icynene material is easily shaved off for a surface that's ready to be covered by drywall or approved thermal/fire barrier wall materials.

How can Icynene save me money?
How do energy savings of up to 50% per month sound? The big advantage of Icynene products is that they expand quickly once sprayed, sealing the surrounding space to create a tight home virtually free from air leaks.

As air barriers, Icynene products minimize random air leakage, which causes up to 50% of the energy loss in a home. Using less energy, your home stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. It's savings you can take to the bank!

Why are Icynene spray foams healthier?
1. Icynene products feature 100% water-blown technology. This technology utilizes a blowing agent that has the lowest Global Warming Potential (GWP) value of 1. Icynene as a company has chosen not to use synthetic blowing agents (such as HFCs), some of which have high GWP of 950! Icynene products are classified as Low-Emitting Materials that contribute to a better indoor environment.

2. Icynene will create an air barrier to reduce outdoor pollutants and allergens from getting inside. Used in conjunction with mechanical ventilation Icynene can make indoor air healthier than what you breathe outside.

3. Icynene can help minimize the flow of random airborne moisture entering your home. Airborne moisture can condense on surfaces within the home and contribute to mold growth. Learn more about the role Icynene can play in making your home healthier.

Why are Icynene spray foams quieter?
Icynene is ideal for reducing airborne noises around the home because it seals gaps and holes through which airborne sound moves within a home.

Why does Icynene go where conventional, air-permeable insulations won't?
Rim joists, around windows and doors, crawlspaces, over garages, around skylights and electrical boxes are just a few of the awkward areas in a home that are difficult or impossible to insulate effectively with conventional insulation. But not with Icynene:
  • Icynene insulates and seals cavities of any shape to maintain an air barrier against lost energy and outdoor pollutants and airborne moisture.

  • Icynene sticks to surrounding surfaces. No need to worry about gaps or spaces in irregular shaped areas. Unlike some other insulations Icynene won't shrink, settle or sag.

  • Icynene is perfect for cathedral ceiling applications and unvented attics.

Unlike many insulations, Icynene
can be sprayed directly to roof decking to create a conditioned
